The Malayalam movie Sookshmadarshini, featuring Basil Joseph and Nazriya Nazim, was greeted with strong first-day praises on Thursday. The movie is directed by Jithin M.C and is made by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid and A.V Anoop from the Happy Hours Entertainments and AVA Production companies.
To much excitement, the much-awaited mystery thriller movie Sookshmadarshini which features Basil Joseph and Nazriya Fahadh is now on the big screens! Sookshmadarshini is also the Morrocan movie which marked the return of Nazriya to the Mollywood industry after a gap of four years and was directed by MC Jithin.
We at Holaquiz are also excited about the movie and have got some hot take on it. Let’s check it out!
Basil Joseph’s engaging undertone combined with a gripping storyline was liked by many netizens and was a pleasant sight with the serious character he yet played.
In the mystery comedy movie, Sookshmadarshini, the focus is on the finesse with which he can portray a nuanced, grey-shaded character and in fact, this anchors not just his character but the motion picture as a whole.
Sookshma, during her interview with the journalist, is described by her friend as someone who always likes to ask questions. It is not in an intrusive manner but she has this knack of being in the right place at the right time, such that she can unlock the most complicated of problems or even dry the trickiest of issues.
They live with their husband Antony (Deepak Parambol), and their 5-year-old daughter Kani (Hezzah Mehak) in a marginally urban area, this housewife Priya cannot find work so she is looking for work. Mrs and Mr Priya and Antony are very delightful people and have good relations with their neighbours, among them: Sulu (Akhila Bhargavan), Asma (Pooja Mohanraj) and Stephy (Merin Philip), who are her closest friends.
Along with other local ladies, they are even members of a very active WhatsApp group where they share news about themselves and local news. Nevertheless, the quiet and calm conditions in their neighbourhood begin to heat up as soon as Manuel (Basil Joseph) and his mother Gracy (Manohari Joy) come back from years of living away from their previous residence next door.
Given that his mother is characterized as an aged and ill woman who is not very talkative, we mostly see Manuel looking after her. Although he seems to be very relaxed and sociable to everyone else, Priya begins to probe him as she senses he is being somewhat deceptive about his home.
Her suspicions grow when she understands that Gracy is not as sick as Manuel depicts. Out of curiosity, Priya decides to look into Manuel’s movements and his activities to understand what he is up to, only to end up discovering many shocking things about him and the things he has been trying to hide in his house.
There is something uniquely sweet about the movies that do not seek to exceed expectations, and rather, are careful in putting forth their concepts; Sookshmadarshini can be said to live by this rule structurally.
It makes no attempts to please the audience by sensationalising its decor or adding things for effect. With a constant gaze, a delicate understanding of its environment and precise movement, MC’s outing guides its audience onto an enthralling experience. Managing the slants, angles and undulations of the story’s plot, the MC and crew make “perfectly OK” in a kleptomaniac-centered comedy, but not without their shortcomings.
Right from the beginning, the movie Sookshmadarshini keeps comedy and mystery at a perfect equilibrium, thus making sure one doesn’t dwarf the other, thus making an interesting combination that keeps the viewers enthralled. Even in the amusing tussles between Manuel and his scheming cousin Dr. John (Sidharth Bharathan) or Roy (Kottayam Ramesh) the latter’s father, the plot remains under wraps.
MC makes sure that the comic relief never dampens the thrill nor does the drama take away the laughter, creating a beautiful symmetry. The director also does not overdo things and gets everything just right which makes for an enjoyable experience for the viewers.
In the end after the true context of the crime and revealed the reason behind the act is brought to the fore. The movie takes a serious stance with regard to its subject matter and manages to handle it with the seriousness it warrants but still is in line with the theme of the movie.

In the world of Indian comedy, very few names can be compared to Samay Raina. A stand-up comic once, he grew leaps and bounds over the years to make a name for himself. Samay Raina has been quite a sensation on YouTube after starting to do chess streams with known celebrities as well as chess grandmasters. And with ‘India’s Got Latent’, he took it up a notch and left no one disappointed, as fans and critics enjoyed the show.
Not only has the show taken Indian comedy to a new level, but it has also popularised the young comedian all over the country.
Holaquiz has followed Samay Raina’s new show very closely and here’s what’s been happening. Let’s see the hype around India’s Got Latent
There is more to ‘India’s Got Latent’ than just Samay’s witty humour. Samay’s concept behind the show is a new take on shows of hunting for talent but with an interesting scoring system. It’s a hodgepodge of strange characters, some talent, and the humour that Samay provides.
The performers are sure to leave the audience guessing. The name alone, which is an idiom of the word “latent talent”, sums up the show and its premise perfectly: a talent that is unknown at the time but eventually comes out with a punch.
Samay’s humour can be best described as a wholesome mix of observational and savage comedy. Samay’s style is different, as he doesn’t just create jokes for the sake of being funny like many comedians, instead, he tries to connect with the audience. He is also quite known for his dark humour which people really like.
His fan base is huge because he knows how to take the simplest of situations and create complete craziness out of them. The way he interacts on India’s Got Latent, he’s not just watching the performers, he interacts with them and ends up creating comedy without even trying.
Performers also benefit from the show as there is prize money as a reward for winning and sometimes Samay even invites budding comedians to open for him in his comedy shows. It’s of course a great opportunity for them to open for such a big comedian.
The format of the show is as crazy as the host of the show. All episodes begin with Samay’s monologue which sets up the whole ambience to be relaxed but funny at the same time. Contestants are allowed to present their special talents, and Samay, who has a few guest judges with him, cracks jokes and shows warmth whilst scoring the contestants.
The scoring system also makes the show pretty interesting. The performers are asked to score themselves before performing and after the performance if the average judge’s scores and the performer’s score match then they win that show.
India’s Got Latent brought the YouTuber to 5 million subscribers as the show is getting quite an attention with every video being on Trending after its release. Samay has even hit above 20 million views on most of his latent videos.
One of the unique features of India’s Got Latent moulds on the table for the audience is the guest appearance. The guest judges are not just plain people, they are from Bollywood’s actors as well as from the influencer community. The episode with Tanmay Bhat and Raghu Ram could be recalled when one of the comedian’s mockery of one another became a meme in no time. These all events give the show more than just a scenario, but an experience that the audience can remember for a long time.
The love for this show is equally apparent and expressed in the form of a flood of shout-outs on social networks by the followers. Be it Twitter trends, reels on Instagram or even videos of reactions on YouTube. All of them outline the status of the show as a cult.
The audience lauds Samay for this specific reason. He makes sure the skill is appreciated but the humour comes into the picture almost instantly. The audience on YouTube and Twitter have liked the show its concept and its audience outreach for its creativity. It is not in any ‘comedy’ show to nail it this way but India’s Got Latent does that.
Some of the feedback includes:
Following the phenomenal reception, India’s Got Latent has opened prospects for a bright future. Far from being just a show, it is now a movement as well that Indian comedy can be as varied and inclusive as its audience. Samay Raina has established himself as a comedian and also paved the way for many more like him.
The anticipation is palpable and if ‘India’s Got Latent’ demonstrates anything, it’s that Samay Raina doesn’t just epitomise the present of Indian comedy, he is its tomorrow.

In what has proven to be a strange series of events, Ireland started a civil trial that was seemingly over. As a brief background, it revolves around the case of an Irish woman who states that Conor McGregor raped her in a Dublin hotel back in December 2018.
Nikita Hand, also known as Nikita Ní Laimhín has charged McGregor with physical as well as sexual assault. On Friday, Ms Hand walked away with 257,000 dollars as McGregor was seen subjecting her to extreme sexual assault “undeniably”.
The majority of the proceedings of the trial and most of the finalisation were done without McGregor’s presence. But still, he has managed to create a buzz because of his history of breathtaking arrogance, when it felt as if he knew he was always the biggest man in the room.
Nikita Hand, the woman who accused Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) superstar Conor McGregor of sexual assault, has won the case the case. On January 18 this year, the ‘Irishman’ took to Twitter and posted, “I’m looking into the first night of nakedness”. Later in 2019, the sequence of shocking and psychological instigations crossed all boundaries and culminated in a drunken confrontation between two supporters of “bad boys of Mughalaas” in a different hotel.
Holaquiz goes deep into who Nikita Hand is and what happened to her. Let’s check.
A post shared by The Trending Indian 🇮🇳 (@thetrendingindian)
According to BBC, Nikita Hand is 35 lives in Dublin and even worked as a hairdresser before the incident. Hand even informed the court that she has been unable to work because of mental health challenges ever since the incident.
The assault impacted her personal life as well which eventually led to the break up of her relationship several months later when McGregor drove her to a penthouse suite at a south Dublin hotel where she consumed alcohol and drugs, she narrated in court.
The BBC report further said that Hand had to shift quarters from her residence in Drimnagh and that her mortgage was currently in default.
This court also heard that she had incurred over 4,000 Euros (Rs 3.51 lakh) in expenditures on general practitioners, pharmacy and psychotherapeutic costs.
A report in the Irish Times stated that Hand had to relocate from his residence after June when a gang of men wearing balaclavas invaded her home and stabbed her partner.
When the verdicts were read, Hand remarked to the reporters present: “My wish is that my story is an inspiration that no matter how scared one might be: ÷ Speak up, you have a voice, and justice is worth fighting for.”
She also thanked her relatives in particular her daughter, Freya.
“It is my daughter Freya who has provided me such immense strength and courage over the last six years in this horrible situation to keep on advocating for justice.” You don’t have to be afraid to speak up Freya, and to every little girl and boy out there, you can fight back when someone bullies you, no matter what the situation is, and I promise you will get justice,” she said.

Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie is set to star in Stitches, a new high-fashion drama directed by Alice Winocour. The film is scheduled to be shot in Paris, as confirmed by Deadline. Certain plot features are not being revealed, but the film will be set in a high fashion scene as most of its time is in the French capital, Deadline reported.
Stitches will be made using both French and English just like Winocour’s last feature Proxima which focuses on an astronaut trying to come to terms with career and motherhood.
Winocour is once more working with Pathe Films for this project after her movie Paris Memories was well received by critics. The film, which was featured in the Cannes Directors’ Fortnigthis project, won actress Virginie Efira a Cesar Award for her performance.
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie’s sojourn in Paris is becoming a regular treat. She completed the shooting of Maria, a biographical drama about the last years of the famous singer Maria Callas, just a few weeks ago. To the delight of the American actress and filmmaker, a stormy eight-minute ovation followed its official unveiling at the Venice Film Festival, reviving the long-dormant conversation surrounding Angelina Jolie’s Oscar. You remember that her last nomination was in 2009 for Changeling while her Oscar journey began in 2000 with a supporting actress win for Girl, Interrupted.
If the film’s screenplay is in the capable hands of Winocour and the design is done with intrigues by Angelina Jolie, Stitches is expected to be a wonderful combination of high drama, fashion and heartfelt tales. This American artist could not have wanted to be working in a stronger setting for her film that brings the audience’s attention to the fashion capital of the world.
Apart from Maria, Angelina Jolie also was a director of ‘Without Blood’- a Western-themed drama which had its global screening at TIFF. The movie starring Salma Hayek, and Demian Bichir revolves around a woman who is the lone survivor of a maniac who goes on a killing spree to eliminate her entire family and aspires to get revenge on the killer later. It is a film based on Alessandro Baricco’s novel that has gained a lot of attention.
Angelina Jolie is a dedicated humanitarian but also does her part in trying to be kind to the earth. There is never a dull moment for this actress, mother or fashion model, as she has to make appearances in several corners of the globe. The Eternals star encourages her fans to join her in trying to make changes, and 2 such changes happened within her own home.
Angeline is also a special envoy for the UN and not only attended but has also visited refugee camps to learn about their needs more thoroughly in her 20s. While portraying herself as a spokesperson for UNHCR, she has even funded long-term constructive programs like schools.
Angeline Jolie is an active member of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy (QCC), a Mother Earth initiative to create a thicket of forest protection projects globally.
Such determination, along with being raised in a family that valued community engagement, contributed to conditioning the future Mother of Rage’s character. It was in 2017, for instance, that she travelled to Namibia with some of her six children to establish a nursery intended to grow saplings and distribute them to the local population to replace the dying trees of the Namib Desert.
As reported in the Tandav documentary The Queen’s Green Planet, Jolie stated: ‘The project means so much and will mean so much to so many people. So for us to come here and to go to the children, ‘This is why it’s important to plant a tree.’ This is humanity’s best population – more than 35,000, and they have certainly learned this from Her Majesty and her message.’”
